The India they saw

From the Book- ‘’The India they saw’’ (it’s a compilation of what Foreigners wrote about India over the centuries).

Alexander:

What according to your normal logic should happen when a king wins a war?

His army at the end should be nearly the same as before the war. 2.The enemy king should lose the land 3. He or his proxy should rule that land. 4. He should continue that path and conquer more land.
The history of “Alexander -Porus” war was written by Alexandre’s Historians (who travelled with the Greek army). You can expect a certain bias in that history to satisfy the local Greek population.

Even from their own accounts, the following is noticed.

Only 1/4th of the Greek Army that attacked Porus returned from India. 75% of Alexanders army got decimated by Porus.
Land under Porus became bigger than before the war.
Alexander turned back to Greece from that place of war. (Alexander never step foot in present India. War happened in present Northwest Pakistan).
The story about Alexander being ‘’kind ‘to Porus is suspect as his earlier behavior was anything but that.

In Each war that alexander fought- he retreated from that place after burning the town, robbing the cities and taking people as slaves. Its only in India- he didn’t do that (or couldn’t do that, as the war ended in a stalemate?)

‘’Suddenly’’ Alexander becoming kind to his enemy was totally out of his character.

The Transformation of ‘’Alexander the Greek’ to ‘’Alexander the Great’ probably happened due to the fascination of the western Historians with Alexander.
